Getting Ready For A New Baby

Preparing for a new baby’s arrival is very exciting and maybe even a little intimdating, especially if the baby is your first child. Following are some tips to help you get ready for the arrival of your new little one.

As soon as she thinks she is expecting, a woman should visit her doctor. He can prescribe prenatal vitamins, answer any questions she has and tell her how best to care for herself and her unborn baby.

Shopping for maternity wear can be a lot of fun as there are many stylish clothes to choose from to help the expectant mom look her best. Many women go through a phase where they just feel fat, rather than pregnant. Buying some new maternity clothes may help that feeling pass. Judging by all the attention pregnant celebrities receive, it is very fashionable to have a baby bump!

Backaches and sore feet are common complaints from pregnant women. If you want to use a massager on your back or feet, be sure to ask your doctor first if it is safe. Some massagers are not meant to be used if you are pregnant. Having someone rub mom’s back or feet may help her feel more comfortable.

Decorating the nursery can be a lot of fun. You will need quite a few diapers, blankets and sleepers for your baby. You will also need a crib for the baby. Many new parents are buying convertible baby furniture. The upside is that a convertible baby crib grows along with your baby. It can be changed into a toddler’s bed or a day bed and some even come with rails and a headboard that can be made into a full size bed. While a convertible crib is very convenient, one drawback could be that the crib could be in use as a toddler bed when another baby comes along and you would need to find another crib. Just decide what would work best for your family.

If this is not your first baby, keep in mind that your older children may need some extra attention as they also prepare for the new baby’s arrival. Although they are hearing that they are going to be a big brother or a big sister, they may not really know what that means.

It may seem like the baby’s due date is a long way off, but there is plenty to do to keep you busy getting ready for baby. And before you know it, you’ll be holding your baby in your arms!
